Maya Isacowitz was born in 1987 in Ma'ayan Baruch, Israel, to a South African parent who had Aliyah to Israel. Her father, Peter, is a wood artist and musician who makes ethnic instruments.As a child, the family moved to Karcom, Israel. At the age of 14, he started playing the guitar and singing. At the age of 16, I recorded a demo and distributed it through my friends.
At the age of 21, she recorded her debut album Safe & Sound independently. The album was sold at her concert.
In May 2011, she released her debut album again on the Israeli label High Fidelity. Three of the tracks were released as singles: Is It Alright, Safe & Sound and Brave Again, which sold more than six copies in 2014, until 2000, becoming a gold record. In 2012, she won the ACUM Award for Best New Artist. In 2013, she joined the Army of Mushrooms, a song from an infected mushroom album. In 2017, she moved to New York City, where she worked on her second album with Israeli producer J.Views. While in New York, Isacowitz toured the state at the South by Southwest Festival, Mountain Jam Festival and the opening performances of Suzanne Vega. In September 2015, she released her second album, All of the Miles. After releasing her new 2019 album, she returned to Israel for a tour.
